Restoring an iPhone from a Backup

After your phone has been either given to you new or had a factory reset, you will be given the opportunity to restore your phone from a backup file.

iCloud

  1. If restoring from iCloud, when you're setting up your phone, follow any on screen prompts until you come to "Apps & Data"
  2. Select the first option, "Restore from iCloud Backup"
  3. Sign in with your Apple ID
  4. Choose the most recent backup, the backup will begin to install, this can take anywhere from five minutes to an hour

***Please note that depending on how big your restoration is, it might take up to a week to fully sync up. Your device will be fully functional during this time though.***


iTunes

  1. Open iTunes and ensure your device is connected via USB
  2. Select your phone from the devices
  3.  Under "Manually Back Up and Restore", select "Restore Backup" and choose the most recent one
  4. Wait for the backup to finish installing, this can take anywhere from five minutes to an hour
