The Moodle Dashboard

The Moodle Dashboard view

As an alternative to the default Home view, Moodle offers the Dashboard, a customizable page where you can filter and sort the courses that appear.  In addition, there is a block devoted to the most recently viewed course.

  1. To access the dashboard look for this icon:   on the top left menu.  The Dashboard can also be accessed from your profile menu in the top left of Moodle.

  2. The Dashboard, by default, has three drop down menus allowing filtering and customization.

  1. From the top left you will see a drop-down that allows you to filter the courses to only courses in progress or to show starred courses:

  2. Courses can be starred using the three-dot menu to the right of the course in the Course Overview section of the Dashboard page:

  3. As you can see, from the same menu one is also able to remove courses from view entirely. This can be useful if courses are appearing in your "In Progress" list but are courses that are from previous semesters.

  4. One is able to sort within the chosen list as well by Course Name or Last Accessed:

  5. One can also change the look of the course presentations showing by list, cards, or summaries. Each presentation inclues completion progress if it is enabled:

  6. Finally, there is a block in the Dashboard view that shows the most recent course accessed with a toggle arrow to move through courses in order of last access:

  7. If you want to move the Recently accessed courses block to the top:

    1. Click Customize this Page at the top left of the Dashboard

    2. Click the four-way arrow inside the Recently accessed courses block

    3. Click "To item "Course overview""

    4. This will  move the block above the Course Overview block.

    5. Click "Stop customizing this page" at the top left to save.

    6. If you make a mistake, click Reset page to default after once again clicking Customize this page.
