Cybersecurity Awareness Month

To the campus community,

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

This month, we will be launching Multi-factor authentication for all student accounts starting Tuesday, October 5th.  MFA is easy to set up. Go to mystfx.ca/services and look for "Microsoft MFA Setup" along the right side of the page. In order to make the transition as smooth as possible, please go to mypassword.stfx.ca > Update information to ensure that your recovery information is correct.

Along with MFA,  IT Services will be promoting our cybersecurity awareness and training program, Beauceron, as well as sharing cybersecurity tips and tricks including creating and managing strong passwords, identifying and dealing with suspicious texts or emails, as well as protecting your data and identity while working remotely and using cloud services.

IT Services wants you to have some fun while learning about cybersecurity so we’re promoting a series of campus-wide contests to both enhance your cyber awareness and give you a chance to win great prizes!  (Contest open to STFX students, faculty, and staff).

The theme of this year’s Cybersecurity Awareness month is: Life Happens Online. Each week, IT Services will be launching a contest based on

  • Staying safe while file sharing
  • Malware and antivirus software
