Mac OSX Faculty and Staff Printing StFX Managed Devices

Staff and Faculty printers are identified with Orange "Hello my name is" labels containing the Printer Name.  Staff Printers begin with the Staff-Printing pre-fix. Staff and print to all copiers on campus, even the student ones.

  • Device must be connected using the WebFX wireless or by an Ethernet connection
  • Students can not print to these devices

Staff and faculty can print to Staff devices as well as the Greed tagged Student devices.

 

Connecting Print Deploy

Your Print Deploy Icon can be found up along your top menu bar.  This is along where your date and time are located.

On your 1st connection to Print Deploy you will be prompted to sign in. 
To login user your:
  • StFX username (no @stfx.ca)
  • Your stfx password, same as you would use for Moodle and M365.

Connecting to a Konica Printer

Secured Printing - Print-Staff

By default the Print-Staff, the secure printing method will be configured.  Secure printing does not release your print jobs on the printers until you have logged into the device, using your stfx credentials or swiping your id card.  Once logged in you can select the job(s) you want to release.  This ensures that sensitive documents/information is not released until someone is there to pickup the document. Using the secure printer allows you to release your job at any of the 65 Konica's across campus.

TIP: If typing in your password ensure you a switching back to lower case after entering a capital letter. 
 

Direct Printer (Print Jobs will be waiting on the printer when you arrive)

Staff and Faculty can also choose to print directly to a device by adding any printer available to them through the add printers in the Print Deploy Application. When using a direct print queue the print jobs will automatically be released on the printer.

1. Open Print Deploy

  • Locate the Papercut icon on the your top Menu bar
  • select View my Printers

2. Add Printers

From the left menu bar choose Add Printers.

Choose the printer you want to install and click the green install.  You can add as many printers as you require.

Printing to the Konica printer

Once your document is ready to print you send it to a printer by using the programs print feature, this may look different depending on the program but using the printer dialog box should bring up a screen similar to below.

Select the Printer you wish to print to by using the Printer drop down.

IMPORTANT the MAC Konica drivers default to color so it's important to set up defaults to ensure you don't need to keep changing the Settings.

Common Settings

Pinter settings

The most common settings are found in the drop-down box above the print preview.

Single and Double Sided

This can be changed using the drop-down menu under the select Layout/ Finish heading

Black & White (Gray Scale)/Color

Click on the drop down menu again and select Quality

Stapling options

This can be changed using the drop-down menu under the select Layout/ Finish heading then selecting the Finish tab

 

ALTERNATIVELY Option 2

If your system is running Golden Gate and your M365 is 16.113.2  or higher your print settings will be found using the following steps

  • Printer Options
  • Printer Features

Double Sided  -

  • near the top of the list
  • Toggle Single sided on or off

Color Printing -

  • found about 3/4 the way down the list
  •  Change both the select color to turn on or off. 

Staple 

  • 1/2 way down the list.
  • Both Staple and location must be set to staple.

Save your Presets

It's recommended that you save your commonly used presets such as double sided and grey scale so you don't have go into the printer settings each time.  

You can do so on the print window by Selecting the drop down by presets and choosing to save current.  Give it a descriptive name the name and

If you receive the hold for authentication error hit the recycle button following your print job error to re enter your credentials,  It's important to update your computer name to your StFX Username (no @stfx.ca) and use your stfx password, not your computer one.
