Backing up an iPhone

 

There are two options to backup an iPhone, backing it up to iCloud from the iPhone, or backing it up to a Computer.

 

Mobile: iCloud Backup

  1.  Ensure your device is connected to WiFi
  2. In Settings, tap the Apple ID Banner at the top
  3. Tap iCloud
  4. Tap iCloud Backup (you will have to scroll down)
  5. Turn on the toggle switch (green will be visible) and tap OK

 

 

 

Computer Backup

 

MacOS: Finder

  1. Open Finder and connect your device to your computer via USB (you may need select to enter your device's PIN or click "OK" on a "Trust This Computer" pop up)
  2. Select your iPhone from the Locations list on the left side
  3. Under the General tab, select Backup all of the data on your iPhone to this Mac
  4. Select whether you want it to be encrypted (password protected)
  5. Select Backup Now

Windows: iTunes

  1. Open iTunes and connect your device to your computer via USB (you may need select to enter your device's PIN or click "OK" on a "Trust This Computer" pop up)
  2. Click the iPhone icon in the top left and select the Summary section
  3. Under Backups select This Computer
  4. Select whether you want it to be encrypted (password protected)
  5. Select Backup Now
  6. You should now see "Latest Backups" read the time and date you completed the backup

Windows: Apple Devices

  1. Open Apple Devices and connect your device to your computer via USB (you may need select to enter your device's PIN or click "OK" on a "Trust This Computer" pop up)
  2. Click the iPhone icon in the top left and select the Summary section
  3. Under Backups select This Computer
  4. Select whether you want it to be encrypted (password protected)
  5. Select Backup Now
  6. You should now see "Latest Backups" read the time and date you completed the backup
