Eastlink Pre-Migration Instructions

Below you will find a checklist to assist with the successful porting of your existing number over to Eastlink Mobile:

1. Software Update:

To ensure a seamless port, please check that your device is operating with the newest software available. You can check if there is an update available by following the below steps:

Apple: Settings> General> Software Update
Android: Settings> Software Update

* If you need to download the newest software, please ensure you’re connected to WiFi.

2. Voicemail:

Please note: your Bell voicemail box will not be migrated to Eastlink. To ensure that any important saved voicemails are not lost please follow the steps below prior to porting your number to Eastlink:

For iPhone:

  1. Open the Phone app and go to the Voicemail tab.
  2. Select the voicemail you want to save.
  3. Tap the Share icon (a square with an arrow pointing up).
  4. Choose a storage option such as NotesVoice MemosFiles, or Mail.
  5. Follow the prompts to save the voicemail to your selected location.

For Android:

  1. Open your Voicemail app and select the voicemail you want to save.
  2. Tap the three vertical dots or Share icon.
  3. Choose Save to store the voicemail locally on your device.
  4. To save to the cloud, navigate to My Files > Internal Storage > VisualVoiceMail, locate the file, and tap Share.
  5. Select a cloud storage option like Google Drive or Dropbox and upload the file.
     

Alternative Methods:

  • Email the Voicemail: Share the voicemail as an attachment via email to access it on other devices.
  • Record Manually: Play the voicemail on speaker and record it using another device or app.
     

3. Apple ID/ Google Account Username & Password:

Please take note of your Username and Password for either your Apple (iPhone) or Google (Android) account to ensure you can easily sign back into your device (if required).

 

4. Back up your device:

It is not necessary but suggested that you back up your device before migration.  Please see the links below for guidance:
