Purpose: How to access the W drive
Files that are published to your W-Drive can be accessed by anyone that has access to the Internet (Can be found through Google searches).
General Information:
Any files that are saved with the (.html) extension will be displayed as a webpage and not a folder structure. Start.html, index.html and home.html will be used are you websites start page. IT Services does not however support the creation/updating of these webpages.
Faculty/Staff:
Storage: 5GB
- Access your folders and files for uploading and modifying by connecting to the Alonso network drive
- Staff Mapping:
- Windows path \\alonso\<username>$
- Mac path: smb://alonso/<username>$
- Example \\alonso\username$ or smb://alonso/username$
- Complete mapping instructions located in Related Files section of this page, if connecting from outside of Campus you will need to connect to the VPN connection prior to mapping.
To view your W-Drive through a web browser you enter people.stfx.ca/<username>
Example: people.stfx.ca/itservices
Students
Storage: 1GB
- Access your folders and files for uploading and modifying by mapping to the Alonso network drive
- Student Mapping:
- \\alonso\<username>$
- smb://alonso/<username>$
- Example \\alonso\x2019\x2019abc or smb://alonso/x2019/x2019abc
To view your W-Drive through a web browser you enter people.stfx.ca/xyear of entry/<username>
