Setting your Availability Status

Teams makes it easy to show your availability status to others, for calls and chats.

The colored dot next to your profile picture or initials indicates your status:

  • Green: Available
  • Yellow: Appear Away, Be right back (Inactive, changes automatically after no activity)
  • Red: Busy, Do Not Disturb
    • Busy will allow Teams messages or calls.
    • Do Not Disturb (DnD) will block any incoming Teams messages or calls.
      • To allow certain individuals to bypass DnD mode follow steps below:
      1. Click the profile picture or initials and select Settings
      2. Click on Privacy
      3. Click on Manage Priority Access
      4. Add any names you believe should be able to notify you no matter your status.
  • White or blank: Appear Offline

Setting Duration

To set a Duration so that Teams will automatically reset your status at the end of the allotted time:

  • Click on the colored dot next to your profile picture or initials
  • Select Duration under the list of available statuses

  • Select the length of time before resetting the status back to available
