Environment: Student, Faculty or Staff who is using a version of Thunderbird 77 or higher for email
Purpose: To set up Thunderbird configured with Modern Authentication
Open Thunderbird
Right-click the account that you would like to configure for Modern Authentication
Select “Settings”Incoming – Select “Server Settings”:Server Type: IMAP Mail Server
Server Name: outlook.office365.com
Port: 993
Connection Security: SSL/TLSAuthentication Method: Oauth2
User Name: <username>@stfx.caOutgoing – Select “Outgoing Server (SMTP)”:Highlight the outgoing server connection that you would like to configure and click the “Edit…” button.
Server Name: smtp.office365.com
Port: 587
Connection security: STARTTLSAuthentication Method: Oauth2
User Name: <username>@stfx.ca
