Environment: User with Office account on desktop applications
Purpose: Provide steps on how to get out of Read only mode
If you have opened a document but are unable to edit or save it, you're likely stuck in "Read-Only Mode". "Read-Only Mode" normally occurs when a file was downloaded from the Internet as a security precaution, but can also happen when Microsoft has a password error.
Solution:
- Sign out of your Microsoft window.
- Click on File
- Click "Sign Out"
- A dialog box will pop up, press yes
