Getting Started with Moodle

All StFX users (Faculty/Instructors, Staff, & Students) will use this method to access the system.
Moodle is designed to work with all modern web browsers on a variety of computing platforms: Mac, Windows, and Mobile

Open your Computer's Web Browser: Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Edge

For the best experience, ensure that your primary browser has been updated to the latest version.

 

Navigate to moodle.stfx.ca from your browser's address bar.

 

Moodle uses your webFX credentials. This is the same username and password used for your StFX Webmail account.
If you are unable to login to the Moodle system try the following:
1. Check to make sure that your username and password are active by logging into your StFX Webmail account at webmail.stfx.ca or clicking the 'Webmail' link at mystfx.ca.
2. If you are unable to access your Webmail account, but have registered with the webFX Password Manager, you can reset your password by visiting mypassword.stfx.ca.
3. If you are still unable to access your webFX accounts please contact the IT Services Help Desk.

View Courses

The courses you are enrolled in will appear on Moodle's main page after you have logged in: 

Students - If you do not see one of your courses in this list please refer to this article.

Navigating Moodle

1. In the Course Overview area of your dashboard are all the courses that you are enrolled in . If you cannot see one of your courses, first get in touch with your department to make sure that they created your course in Banner properly. If you cannot see your courses, click "Course Overview". If you still cannot see your course, please submit a ticket with IT Services.


2. View courses that are "In Progress", "Future" or "Past". Remember that "Past" courses will only appear as such when you close the course. 


3. If you cannot find your course in your course offerings, click "Courses" in the top menu and search for your course. 


4. Click here in the top links to access Microsoft Apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

If you are an instructor or student in a course it will appear in a list at the centre of your home screen. You can click the title of any course to view its contents.
