How to randomize quiz questions

The instructions below require you to make categories and add questions to those categories:

Creating categories

Adding questions to categories

1. Go to your course page and click "Turn Editing On".

2. Click "Add an Activity or Resource".

3. Choose "Quiz" and click "Add".

4. Name the quiz.

5. Under "Timing" set a start time and end time for the quiz.

6. Under "Review Options" in the 4th column (After the quiz is closed) check off "The attempt". This way, students who complete the quiz will see that they have attempted it. If you would like students to see their mark after the quiz is completed, choose "Marks".

7. Choose "Save and Display" when complete.

8. A new page will load. Click "Edit quiz" to add questions.

9.  Under "Add", choose "a random question":

10. A new window will open. Here, you will choose which category you would like the randomized questions to come from. The category Moodle demo (3) is highlighted and shows 3 questions within it (outlined in red). If you have more than one category with questions in it, you can click that new category and the questions within that category will appear:

11. In the same window, under "Number of random questions", choose how many questions you would like to appear on the quiz. For example, if the category contains 10 questions and "Number of random questions" is chosen to be 3, then Moodle will randomly choose 3 questions from the category of 10 questions:

Click the "Add" a random question button.

12. Random questions will appear as a die:
