Mapping Network Drives - Windows

 

Open File Explorer

  • 1. Open File Explorer from the taskbar or the Start  menu, or press the Windows logo key  + E.
  • 2. Select This PC from the left pane. Then, on the Computer tab, select Map network drive.

  • 3. In the Drive list, select a drive letter. (Any available letter will do.)
  • 4. In the Folder box, type the path of the folder or computer, or select Browse to find the folder or computer. To connect every time you log on to your PC, select the Reconnect at sign-in check box.

Mapping to Your H-Drive

• In the window that appears, change the drive letter to H: by using the drop down arrow at the end of the Drive box.
• For students to map your H: Drive, the folder address is: \\juno.stfx.ca\x2018abc$ (x2006abc should be substituted with your username).
• For faculty and staff to map their H: Drive, the folder address is: \\juno\username$ (username is substituted with your username).
Note: The $ must be placed after your username.
• Place a check in the Reconnect at logon box.

Please note if you are signing in on your personal device you must check the "Connect using different credentials" box

 

You will also be asked to login, please ensure you are using your StFX credentials


Mapping to Your W-Drive

• In the window that appears, change the drive letter to W: by using the drop down arrow at the end of the Drive box.
• For faculty, staff, and students: to map your W: Drive, the folder address is: \\alonso.stfx.ca\yourusername$ (For students, your username begins with x and ends with three random letters).

• Note: The $ must be placed after your username.
• Place a checkmark in the Reconnect at logon box
• Place a checkmark in the Connect using different credentials box.


For Departmental Drive

• In the window that appears, change the drive letter to any available letter by using the drop down arrow at the end of the Drive box.

• For faculty and staff, the folder address is: \\juno\depts$\DepartmentName where department name should be substituted with your department. For a complete list of department shares you can map to \\juno\depts$ without the department name.

Note: The $ must be placed after depts.

• Place a check mark in the Reconnect at login box.
