Faculty and Staff Printing Setup - macOS

Staff and Faculty printers are identified with Orange "Hello my name is" labels containing the Printer Name.  Staff Printers begin with the Philo pre-fix

  • Device must be connected using the WebFX wireless or by an Ethernet connection
  • Students can not print to these devices

Download Konica Driver

1) Click on the version below of your operating system that you are running on your Mac.
2) Click on the Downloads button or go to your default Downloads folder.
3) Double click on the downloaded file to begin running the installer.

 

The following copiers use a different driver

  • Brian Mulroney Hall
  • 2nd floor of Nicholson Tower

If connecting to one of the copiers above use the driver below.

C360i Driver

Installing Konica Driver

Continue through the on-screen prompts to install the driver.  Once prompted you will need to put in your stfx credentials.
 
If you do not have admin rights on your system to install this driver you will need to reach create a support ticket include your computer asset tag or computer name when completing the request.

Connecting to a Konica Printer

  1. Open your System Preferences
  2. Select Printers and Scanners
  3. Click the + button below your list of installed printers
  4.  The add screen will show you all the printers that are available.  Staff and Faculty can add printers from the Student Fleet Philario, as well as the Staff Fleet Philo.

If you do not see the Philario and Philo printers listed you will need to create a support ticket with our Technology Consultants.

Adding a Secure Printer (Jobs not released on the printer automatically)

Secure printing does not release your print jobs on the printers until you have logged into the device and selected the job you want to release.  This ensures that sensitive documents/information is not released until it is ensured that someone is there to pick it up off the printer immediately.

To add this printer look for

PHILO-Print-Staff

Once you have sent your print job you can go up to any Konica device on campus, log in using your StFX username and password, or swipe your ID card once associated with your account to access the jobs waiting to be released.


Adding a Direct Printer (Print Jobs will be waiting on the printer when you arrive)

Staff and Faculty can also choose to print directly to a device by adding any printer with a location in its name with the Philo or Philario prefix.  Staff and Faculty can add the devices near them to and select these printers when printing their documents.  These print jobs will automatically be released on the printer.


Printer Configuration

Once you have selected a printer to connect to you there are couple more steps to configure the device.

After highlighting the printer you wish to install click on the Use drop down and choose Select Software
 
 
1. Type in Konica in the Search
2. Choose the C558 PS driver ** if installing the C360i choose that the C360
3. Hit OK
4. Once returned to the previous screen, hit Add

Once your document is ready to print you send it to a printer by using the programs print feature, this may look different depending on the program but using the printer dialog box should bring up a screen similar to below.

Select the Printer you wish to print to by using the Printer drop down


Common Settings

The most common settings are found in the drop-down box above the print preview.

Single and Double Sided

This can be changed using the drop-down menu under the select Layout/ Finish heading

Black & White (Gray Scale)/Color

Click on the drop down menu again and select Quality

Stapling options

This can be changed using the drop-down menu under the select Layout/ Finish heading then selecting the Finish tab


Finishing settings must be finalized on your computer before pressing print.   Once ready press Print to send your job

You can not change the settings on the Konica once the job has been sent.
 
If you are new to printing on StFX you may be prompted with a login box.  If so use your StFX username (exclude the @stfx.ca) and your most recent password to complete the connection.
