Environment: For users who wish to use the same authenticator application for both VPN MFA and Microsoft 365 MFA
Purpose: Set up instructions to add your Microsoft 365 into FortiToken Authenticator app. Use if looking to use one authenticator app for both applications.

Log into your Authenticator App
- Log into office365.stfx.ca
- Click on your profile in the upper right corner and choose "View Account"
- Select "Security Info"
Add another Authenticator Application
- Click the Add Method
- From the Drop Down choose "Authenticator App" & click "Add"
- Choose "I want to use a different authenticator app"
- From the next pop up window choose Next to setup your account
- Once you see the QR code leave that screen active on your computer and switch to your mobile device
Setup the FortiToken Application on your phone
- Open the FortiToken app, if your mobile device does not yet have FortiToken Authenticator app installed you will need to install from the play or app store.
- Click the + in upper right corner of your FortiToken application to add a new account, your camera will be activated.
- Scan the QR Code on your computer screen, once complete you camera will close and you will see your Microsoft account in your FortiToken List
Complete the Setup
- Once you have scanned the QR code click Next

Switch back to your Mobile device to get the 6 digit code listing for your Microsoft account (StFrancis Xavier University:<your username>. You may need to press the eye icon to make the code visible. NOTE the code is refreshed every 20 seconds

Back on your computer, input the code displayed on your mobile device and press Next
- You will be returned back to your Security info and notice will be displayed confirming the addition of another authenticator app
Setting your Default method
Once you have added the authenticator application you will need to set it as your default if you wish to use it as your primary for your Microsoft 365 Authentication method.
- Choose "Set Sign in Default Method" or if you already have a default method configured click "Change"
- Use the drop down to choose "Authenticator App or Hardware Token" and press Confirm
