Hardware Token for Multi-Factor Authentication

What is this service?

Most users find it convenient to use their cell phone for MFA but we realize this solution will not work for everyone.  If you don’t have a mobile device or are unable to use one for MFA, using a hardware token is the alternative. A hardware token is a small device that displays the 6-digit codes for logging into MFA. Low vision options are available.

Why is it useful?

Multi-Factor Authentication consists of two parts, something you know - your stfx password, & something your have - a mobile device or a hardware token.   A hardware token will be issued to Staff and Faculty (including retired Faculty) unable to use a mobile device for Multi-Factor Authentication.

One hardware token can be used  for both Microsoft 365 MFA and VPN MFA

How do I request this service?

*Information for Student Hardware Tokens will be posted at a later date.
